Well, C2 is what I thought it would be - freakin' awesome.  We moved in Sunday, August 14th, and the world changed forever.  It will be a great year full of great memories, I'm sure.

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to share with you my objection letter to Walnut Knolls apartments.  We are still yet to receieve a bill for anything, including the deposit, so I haven't taken any action or sent the letter.  If a natural justice exists, we will never receive any bill and I won't have to send any letter.  However, you people should still read it.  Also take note of the added glossary, created by David Charles (though if we do get a bill, it'll probably get scratched).  Read it and weep, Crapnut Knolls:

Walnut Knolls Apartments Management:

Upon living at Walnut Knolls for 20 months we, Daniel Schoch and Ryan Showalter, residents of apartment 1B, write you in opposition to the charges quoted after exiting our apartment.  The additional charge of $100 is disproportionate to the condition of the vacated apartment and is unjustified, considering the lack of alleged damage that would normally account for such a fine.  Given the initially worn condition of the unit and the stains on the carpet, we do not expect to receive our full deposit.  However, this additional charge should be eliminated unless obvious proof of additional damage is evident.  We will examine a detailed account of all expenses incurred and take necessary action.

Throughout our second tenure, we paid significantly in terms of inconvenience, poor maintenance, and poor management.  For instance, the constant construction and promised improvements originally guaranteed to be finished in August of 2004 were still underway at the end of our lease, and the constant noise and interference from construction crews caused unwelcome irritation.  Yet, we did not outwardly complain or object, instead investing (futile) faith in the projects’ conclusions.

Not only was the construction unwelcome, but it was poorly executed and completed.  Our back door had a half-inch gap for months, exposing the kitchen to bugs and driving up the cost of air conditioning.  A frame was finally inserted later, at the cost of dried plaster and dirt littering the kitchen floor.  The excuse given for this lack of expediency was that the crews were understaffed and overworked, hardly acceptable when the consequence is residents paying unnecessarily high utility bills.  It is also worth noting that our front door still did not have a frame at the time of our move-out.

In addition, one large mound in the already treacherous parking lot was finally flattened, but the area is still a maze of potholes and dangerous cracks.  Over the past two years, it caused us at least three flat tires.

Last, the plastered ceiling above our shower caved in twice, and each time a repairman was at least two weeks late.  Yet, we remained faithful and respectful.  We had an impeccable rent payment record and never caused any disturbances or allowed opportunity for any disturbances.

The apartment we moved into in August of 2003 was already worn and, after 20 months of residency ourselves, we expected to receive very little, if any, of our original deposit.  However, the extra $100 we were quoted is obscene.  Never will we recommend residency at Walnut Knolls, and we now understand its garnered reputation for inadequacy.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Daniel Schoch

Ryan Showalter

Inadequate- not good enough

Obscene- retarded- much like you (see mirror)

There you have it - who's gonna mess with us after that?!  Yep.

Well, back to C2 livin.  It's been pretty great having absolutely nothing to do for two whole weeks.  Classes should be solid, though, and I always look forward to starting a new semester.  Especially now that I'm a...senior...wow.  I'm also going to read my growth hormone article for the IU Med School's radio show on the Indy NPR affiliate (90.1 in Indy, and somethin else in Bloomington), so I'll let you know when that airs.

That does it for me.  Stay in milk, don't do school, and drink your drugs (thanks, Mr. T)!
