Sooo, I just learned that Regent University, one of my law school possibilities, was founded by Pat Robertson in the early 1980s.  That’s spectacular.  Just dandy.  In case you aren’t aware, Pat Robertson is host of the 700 Club and founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network.  He’s a hardcore right-wing Christian fundamentalist, and even ran for president in 1988.

Honestly, one of Regent’s attractive features for me was its Christian influence and seemingly broad array of coursework in divinity (probably more like fundamentalism), communications/arts (probably more like feeding into the CBN), and law (probably more like making minorities completely illegal, or something).  I guess the debate now is determining the importance of his namesake if I am accepted.  After all, I attend journalism classes in Ernie Pyle Hall.  If it was Rupert Murdoch Hall, would I have still gone to IU and majored in journalism?  Probably.  The difference with Regent is that Robertson is not only the founder, but he’s also the president and chancellor, meaning faculty and coursework is probably largely under his watch.

I haven’t counted it out yet, though.  After some more research, I’ll make my decision.  It may be completely possible that I’ll never encounter any major conflicts because of Robertson’s reputation.  Or maybe I won’t even get in.  Ha!  That would show ‘em.  Oh, well.  I’m done now.  Any suggestions/advice/funny musings on Pat Robertson?  Send ‘em all my way.  Also, compliment me on my recent-updating skills.  Peace out.
